National Margarita Day

Write it down folks, February 22nd is certainly a day worth celebrating – It’s National Margarita Day! As its founders will tell you the motivation behind the holiday, which is quite simple, has made today an increasingly celebrated holiday.

According to the official National Margarita Day founders, the day was created for a basic and relatable purpose: “Friendship, good times, and memories of somewhere warmer are all great reasons to enjoy a margarita” (nationalmargaritaday.com/about).

I’m sure we can all agree the month of February is an especially great time to travel somewhere warmer in our minds, so why not partake in a little Margarita celebration? How about some fun facts?

1.       Did you know that the first Margarita was created in 1948 by a woman named Margaret Sames – a Dallas, TX socialite (hence the name, “Margarita)?
2.      The first frozen Margarita machine was invented in 1971 and was modeled after a soft-serve ice cream machine.
3.      On average, Americans consume 185,000 Margaritas per hour!
4.       Tommy Hilton of Hilton Hotels, was one of the first to exploit the Margarita after trying Margert Sames version in 1948.
5.      In 2008, the Margarita was the #1 most ordered drink overall in the United States.

Since its debut, the Margarita has evolved tremendously and has allowed for several variations of its original recipe, including our very own MEZCALITA! Who needs tequila, right?

So, let’s raise a toast to one of the most classic and adored cocktails of all time. We hope you will celebrate with us!

Happy National Margarita Day!

Oh… and as always, BLAME IT ON THE WORM!
